4-Day Tsavo West, Amboseli, & Tsavo East Safari
At 6:00am, guests will be picked up from their hotels and depart Mombasa for Tsavo West via the Mombasa-Nairobi Highway. Entering Tsavo West through the Tsavo River Gate, the safari continues with game viewing along the palm-lined Tsavo River, home to hippos and crocodiles. Lunch will be served at the lodge. In the evening, visit the Ngulia Rhino Sanctuary to search for the rare black rhino. Dinner and your overnight stay will be at the lodge.

    ...

🌅 1. Early Morning Departure & Transit Your driver-guide picks you up from your beach resort in a 4x4 Safari Land Cruiser. You will head inland, climbing away from the humid coast. A brief stop is usually made along the highway for a quick restroom break and to stretch your legs.

    ...

🦏 2. Mid-Morning Arrival & First Game Drive You will enter Tsavo West National Park—most commonly through the Mtito Andei Gate or Tsavo Gate. The moment you pass the gate, your pop-up roof goes up, and your first en-route game drive begins. Keep your eyes peeled for giraffes, zebras, and the park's famously elusive leopards navigating the dense baobab trees.

    ...

🍽️ 3. Check-In & Lunch at the Lodge Arrive at your chosen lodge or luxury tented camp just in time for lunch. After eating, you will have a few hours to unpack, relax by the pool, or watch wildlife visit the lodge’s private watering hole.

    ...

🐆 4. Late Afternoon Game Drive & Rhino Sanctuary At around 04:00 PM, when the midday heat subsides, you will head out for an intensive game drive. The main highlight of this afternoon is a visit to the Ngulia Rhino Sanctuary. This heavily guarded, fenced zone inside the park is one of the best places in East Africa to spot the highly endangered black rhino.

    ...

🌌 5. Dinner & Evening Wildlife Watching Return to the lodge at sunset (around 06:30 PM) before darkness sets in. After a warm shower, enjoy a multi-course dinner. This allows you to view hippos and crocodiles swimming from below the surface.

    ...

🌋 2. Breakfast & The Shetani Lava Flow Return to the lodge for a full breakfast and check out. As you exit Tsavo West, you will drive across the Shetani Lava Flow—a massive, black jagged ribbon of rock created by a volcanic eruption just a few centuries ago. ...

🐘 3. Transit to Amboseli & Afternoon Arrival You will cross into Amboseli National Park around midday. The dust turns from Tsavo's deep red to a pale grey. As you enter the park, you will notice an immediate change: the trees vanish, replaced by wide plains and lush swamps fed by Kilimanjaro's melting snow. You will catch your first glimpses of Amboseli's famous elephant herds—often walking in long, single-file lines.]

From the summit, you get a panoramic look at the entire park, the vast swamps filled with wallowing hippos, and the elephants grazing below.

    ...

    ...

🔴 3. Arrival in "The Theater of the Wild" Enter Tsavo East National Park by midday. The contrast is immediate: the soil is a striking, deep red [Voi Safari Lodge]. As you drive toward your lodge, look out for the famous "red elephants" of Tsavo. These animals are actually grey, but they continuously spray the iron-rich crimson dust over their bodies to protect their skin from the intense sun and biting insects.

    ...

🍽️ 4. Check-In, Lunch, and Waterhole Watching  Check into your lodge or luxury tented camp. Many properties here—such as Voi Safari Lodge or Ashnil Aruba—are built directly in front of large mud-holes. You can enjoy your lunch while watching herds of elephants, buffalos, and zebras drink just meters away from your table.

    ...

🦁 5. Afternoon Game Drive & Mudanda Rock At 04:00 PM, head out into the vast plains. Your guide will hunt for Tsavo’s famous lions—historically known for being large, fierce, and occasionally maneless due to the thorny terrain. You will visit Mudanda Rock, a massive 1.5-kilometer inselberg that acts as a natural water catchment. Animals gather in the natural dam at its base, and you can walk to the top for a spectacular view.

    ...

🌌 6. Star-Lit Dinner Return to camp by 06:30 PM. Because Tsavo East is isolated and flat, it features incredibly dark skies. Enjoy your final night on safari with a dinner under a brilliant canopy of stars, listening to the distant roars of lions and the nocturnal sounds of the bush.
